[Original Blurb from the 2004 release]
Less than half a year ago, three young lads from Melbourne released a record. Simple and straightforward, the songs of Get Back gave the world their first taste of The Basics.
Having taken a bite, some scratched their heads in confusion - 'What are they trying to do?' - while many others just shrugged off any uncertainty by jumping up and gettin' down.
The world has not heard anything like The Basics for a long, long time and their arrival could not have been better timed.
While the charts drowned in the swamps of pop, here finally is something which is - without question - real. No tricks, no treacle, just three honest boys with legitimate heart.
CALL IT RHYTHM AND BLUES is just that - you couldn't, and wouldn't, call it anything else. Wally and Kris power away at this rock 'n' roll duet, Michael joining them on occasion to complete the harmony in true Basics style.
BABY, LET ME IN demonstrates the softer, shuffle-like side of The Basics, a sweet contrast to their sharper, dancier numbers. Wally provides us with a pledge of faithfulness to anyone willing to listen, as Michael and Kris chime in good old call-and-answer style!
For those of you that are wondering what type of music The Basics play - just call it Rhythm and Blues.
