  As I sit back to write the paragraphs to this latest record by The Basics – Get Back – I’ve got the disc playing in the background, urging my inspiration. It doesn’t take long – I find myself tapping away to the rhythm and singing along to the words already so effectively lodged in my brain.
  
  Looking back, it is hard to believe that it’s been less than a year since Michael, Kris and Wally first came together to try their collective hands at starting a band. I could go on about their progression since, but in short the past 11 months have seen them perform over a hundred times and turn this ‘little bit of fun’ into something to sit up and take notice of – The Basics that is!
  
  The concept is simple – throw around the energy you have. Shed the last 40 years of music history. Get Back to a place where Rhythm and Blues meant clanging guitars, swinging drums and soaring vocals, when having a good time was all about taking your date down to the local dance hall and reelin’ the night away.
  
  Fresh from the fingers and minds of these three young Melbourne lads, the 12 songs contained herein make up their first LP of all original material. Recorded live and loud, the strong tunes and solid beats serve not only as a reminder of days gone by, but of days to come – and nights of dance-filled fun!
